I am also going to convert from a 318 to a 440 in my 1970 W-200 crewcab. I have a 69 W-200 parts truck with a 383 and np-435, and I planned on using this bellhousing / clutch / transmission setup behind the 1977 440. Do I have to get the crank drilled? How about motor mounts? I was hoping for more of a bolt in affair, but I'm not scared of a little work as long as it is feasible. Am I better off using the 383? The 440 sure intrigues me for its towing power and ease of getting parts. Any info is appreciated! Anyone done this?
