Jason, I had a 1959 4x4 that came with a flat head six. (and several other mid 50's along the way) when I put a 315 in its place the problem I had was that the six was longer and since both engines had the wonderful engine mount under the water pump I had to make some extensions so the original mounts chould reach. The 315 came with its own bell housing so I do not know if that would also not fit very well.
