It is not hard at all. To make it easy on yourself make sure it is in neutral, remove the 6 or 8 bolts and off it comes. VPW can rebuild the top, and I have seen NOS ones online. When you put it back, use thread sealant on every flipping bolt that penetrates the casting unless you want it to leak.
