Removing Transmission Top for Late Non-Sync Trans

I am looking to remove the Transmission Top from my "Late Non-Synchronized Transmission. My truck is a 1950 but their must have been a transmission swap at some point as it now has the later 1951+ model installed.

According to VintagePowerWagons, they can do a rebuild.

Anyone do the rebuild? Any suggestions on how to make the removal and replacement as straight forward as possible?
