Clint, I absolutely agree with you with larger tires amplifying any problems in the suspension (slop, vibration, and so on). I actually am not a fan of giant wheels and tires, but both of my trucks came with them, and both "sets" of wheels/tires were over $3,000 (truck #1), and $2,500 (truck #2), respectively. Going back to stock -dimension stuff would cost and lose money over fixing any worn parts in the suspension, in my case. I have approximately and inch or so play in the steering box of my '53, but it is in the box (I'm going to power steering, anyway), but zero in the knuckles or tie rods. But hitting potholes or bad unevenness in the road nearly yanks the steering wheel out of my hands, and having a '69 VW Beetle that comes factory with a dampener, I know how huge of a difference in makes, even when there is zero play in the steering. I definitely want to run one in both trucks, but I can't see spending $149 on a single-shock setup. If I could see the VPW mounting brackets/location, I could buy a double-shock setup and either fabricate the brackets myself, or buy something that can be massaged to fit.
