If you don't go old style and use thinner gauge steel you will be able to lift more. Most of the ones I have seen used what they could find to make them. I am putting up a 24 ft beam span for a rolling hoist big is not better but right is. They have charts and formulas to size the pipes and parts needed to meet what you want to lift with it.
