Only thing that may or may not be an improvement is th look at whther you can drive the bell housing alignment pins forward, install the flywheel from the top while on the floor, then slide bell housing down and drive pins into it.

Yup, there have been better ideas in the 90 years since the Dodge boys built their first flat head sixes.
