It hangs off the chains and I needed to adjust them a little. The chains can be removed. To get the hinge up into the frame I needed to recess it on the bed frame. So when you lower the tailgate it drops down some which to me is not that big of a deal. I left a gap at the tailgates bottom when up to drain the bed better and nicer to wash out with a hose.
