After a lot of deliberation,
I have decided to stay with a gas engine for the 1960 W500 Power Giant future project, instead of a diesel conversion.
Currently it has a replacement LA 318 that is not running and the stock NP 420 with an adapter that puts the PTO out some for the winch shaft.
I have an opportunity to get a 361 but I am concerned about it fitting ,(the 318 ex manifolds are right up to each rail. Also how hard is it to find the adapter for the Np540
PTO?
Would a 318-3 and using the existing tranny be the easiest here? I know the 361 has more grunt.
