NOT.. the price to restore an M37 is not cheap.. parts are more money (IMHO)
on the truck I bought, at least the original military NDT tires are in nice shape. came with no pintle hook, no canvas top (but all the frame work) and missing a bunch of little stuff.
"little" stuff adds up
the truck had many layers of paint, which I removed the entire front end, running boards, etc. and had sandblasted it all..
replaced the entire fuel system, (I mean EVERYTHING with reprop or NOS)
Replaced the entire Brake system, 100% correct.
The last two items are MANDATORY or you will have fuel issues and the brakes are mandatory to be safe.
a 2-3K project truck you can expect to pour another 5-6k on top of it.
I know... I did it! I paid 4500 and I got another 6K-7K into mine.
Is it perfect? heck no! but the body is nice.. best tailgate I ever seen (and believe me, they come beat up...) the truck stops and runs nice.. It steers brakes and runs fine.
I got a new canvas top and new seat covers included in the 6K price...so I got a lot 0f it done now, but it still isn't 100%.
I got all new electrical parts , including a brand new set of suppressed wires, new pertronics ignition, NOS carb NOS fuel pump and more than I can remember I bought off line like Ebay and other 3rd party guys, like correct spare tire carrier and brand new spare tire and rim, tail lights and headlight bulbs, new rubber trim and weather seals everywhere, etc..
I got well over 10K into this truck to date.. I should have just bought a 8-10 unit and saved myself the busted knuckles, aggravation and all that comes with it..and put that effort into my wc 1/2 ton.
Want to buy mine? Ill sell it.. and I wont even ask the 10K I got into it.. I would take 8K for it.. and believe me, you will spend EVERY dime of that to get one in this shape.. a lot of parts might be out there, but they aint cheap.
