At the lumber yard they flipped out and said you will never make it the 60 miles from almost sea level to the 6,000 ft level in the mountains! Well I did and that is 19 sheets of 5/8" plywood, bunch of 2x6s & 2x4s plus a solid core door on to of my 67 Baja with a 71 Super Beetle Engine in it. Inside the cab is 10 Pier Blocks and 4 role of roofing felt. That gave me some ballast. A State Patrol covered his eyes when I drove by him. When I drove over the railroad tracks the door gap opened and closed. The rack on top I build out of 2" channel with 2" x 3/8" strap steel bolted thru the top and another piece bolted inside to keep the bolts from pulling thru the sheet metal. It is only 2 ft wide and the width of the top with some 4 ft long 2x6s bolted onto the steel. I used 100s of feet of 1/2" rope to tie it on with! I made it and a bunch more loads and finished the cabin in the mountains. If there is a will there is a way and don't tell me it can't be done!
