Vacuum Assist Fuel Pump?

The fuel pump on the '53 is not original. Is it from an M-37? The vacuum line on the right is connected to the intake manifold, supplying vacuum to pump. The line on the left supplies vacuum to the wiper motors from the pump. Not sure why they did not plumb the wiper tube directly to the intake manifold as original, unless that would diminish the amount of vacuum at the pump. So the wipers would be secondary to the pump I guess.

No heater either. Shouldn't be needed in TX.
