It seems like the tire industry is moving toward 17" from what I have seen, at least in the radial world. But maybe you don't want or need radials. Unfortunately there are very few tall, narrow and aggressive tires made anymore. I have STA 900 16 on my WDX and have been disappointed with them on ice. They do well in mud and snow, but do tend to fill up if the snow is wet. I think the center tread bars would clean up better if they were at more of an angle. But they do seem to be about the only choice in a 900 16, aside from the NDT tires, which are even worse on ice.
