Not malleable iron at all, not sure what I was thinking. My old-timey books suggest that it's somewhere between refined iron I got and wrought iron. One would certainly expect at least ~1 to 1.5% slag in wrought iron. I guess that it's possibly very well-refined wrought. The full 1% Mn suggests that it may have been a custom mix.
My thoughts: have a spring shop heat it and bend it back. There should be no need to re-temper with no C or Cr.
