Drain and refill with diesel will be fine but would tell the dealer no sale on that truck. To much money involved. Tell them to find him another truck. I would walk away from it. WE work on a small school bus fleet and they Have GM diesels. It has happen a few times and we have drained and refilled. No major problems, all still delivery kids to school.
