If it was new are you sure you hooked it up right? Does it require the unit to be grounded to the frame or does it have both sides of the coil running to small threaded terminal posts? Does it pick up positive power from one large terminal post and you ground out the other little one. Are you running the power the wrong way? Need more information on the solenoid switch like a brand and number.
