I read a test awhile back where they took a bunch of U joints and ball joints, king pins and checked them out.
TRW came out on top on king pins, Spicer on U joints - the biggest problem seems to be the off shore stuff and big swings in the quality of the off shore stuff. the quality of the steel and even the dimensions would be off on the imported stuff.
Not much help I know but if you had a choice of import verses old stock............
