The only good thing I can see coming out of this is that there may be more reproduction parts made, because of the higher demand. Not sure if that will really be the case, but maybe.

Other than that, I only see downsides...truck prices will continue to climb, parts prices for rare parts will do the same, and there will be fewer and fewer stock trucks on the road, since a bunch of them will now get re-powered, lifted, chopped, etc.

I'm like you, I like them the way they came out of the factory, with perhaps a few minor mods, such as dual carbs for a bit more power, or front disc brakes and dual circuit brake system for safety. Otherwise, keep it stock. A long time ago, I contemplated putting in a V8 or a diesel, but decided I liked climbing in the cab, pulling out the choke, stepping on the starter pedal and hearing the flathead six come to life, and then hearing the whine of the spur gears in the tranny as I go down the road. Anything different, and it just doesn't see right (my humble opinion).
