They had races there in the 70s and I entered my 75 Chevy heavy duty 1/2 ton with skid plates from the bumper to past the transfer case. I had a welded truss system on the front axle. I broke my starter off on the preliminary run. I went air born and landed on my front bumper and stopped dead! Kept it running till a friend got me another one. I broke the casting off the motor and it dangled around for the rest of the run. I did a better time then the Jeeps but was eliminated cause I drove over a line!! It was fun but it beat the heck out of my truck. I raced the guy from the "How Come" show he had the Jeep that they always showed at the beginning of it racing. Blew his doors off cause I could fly over the bumps and land right 99% of the time. Learned how to brake into the bumps so to not over extend the springs on take off. Missed that Chevy it was fun just enough squish on the springs for a great ride.
