Two things I would not have expected from you, Paul. Didn't read the manual.....and doing rooster tails in the mud in four wheel drive. Ha.
Maybe Dodge engineers wanted to make sure that some of the buyers of those trucks, not being familiar with low range gearing, might try engaging low range at road speed.
My '06 CTD requires that I be stopped, but not that I turn off the engine.
They must protect the consumer from himself. :)
