Thinking out loud here; if all is good except the incandescent bulb, I wonder how a florescent bulb would work for you. I have been using them outdoors for 3 years now and they have worked great. I haven't changed one yet. They come on at dark and off in the morning light also they go through extreme temperatures out here.
