water in tranny oil

I was doing some maintance work on the PW (WDX) today and found the tranny oil contaminated with water...everything else was OK. the only way I can figure it got in there was when I was washing the interior out with a garden hose and it leaked down the shifter lever....any other idea's (I have not been doing any puddle jumping)...USA FOREVER
