I used to have a 1990 W250 diesel 5 speed with the 3:54 gears, I now have a 99 2500 diesel 5 speed with 3:54 gears, the older truck got better mileage, but the newer one is improving ( just got 19.5 mpg on a 400 mile trip at 70 -75 mph) the older truck rode harder, but I prefered that solid axle set up with leaf springs. On the 99 I don't like the windshield pillars, I find they block my veiw, Had a couple of close calls, The 99 has more power, wish It had 2 overdrives, rides softer, and has a cup holder on the floor ( remember 5 speed) If I could have the 99's drive train with an added overdrive in the 90 I would be happier. I just need to complain about everything. 1 other thing I hate the fact I don't have lock out hubs on the 99. when shifting in or out of 4wd, I hear and feel the snap of the front end engaging or disengaging and I wonder about getting burrs or other wear on the splines in the front end
