Take the M151. Demil specs first called for torching it in two, then into quarters. In theory, if it ever got that far, you'd have to cut your M151 into quarters. As for the M151A2, you'd have to crush it flat.
Is this far fetched? Maybe, maybe not. Gun owners will tell you about how bureaucrats have claimed they were not going to do something, or that a bill did not mean such and such, and then later they "interpreted" it to mean what they said it didn't.
