Your comments on the Transfer case shifting are correct. You can get 2WD low range if you have front lock out hubs. Simply pull both levers rearward and have your front hubs disengaged. Yes your front driveshaft and axle will be turning but not applying any power since the hubs are not engaged. I have done this one or twice when I was dragging something over a hard surfaced road.

The combat wheels are not a problem at all. I had no problem removing the tires off mine. I loaded them into my truck took them to Les Schwab (tire dealer) and paid them $10 a tire for removal and tire disposal. There would have been no charge if I was buying new tires but I am having the rims blasted and was not ready to buy.

I have removed one tire from a combat rim. It was an old tire and I used a elecrtic ricipicating saw and cut the sidewalls removing the tire. I them cut the beads off the rim. I took the nuts off and tapped with a 2 lb hammer on the ring until it popped off. That tire sill had the center run flat metal piece in it. It was the only one out of 5 that still had it. By the way, it still was work cutting the tire off. That is why I took the other four tires to Les Schwab.
