On really old and crusty stuff, it might be worthwhile to have your local tire dealer dismount your present tires using their tire machine. After 20-30-40-50-60 years they can really get stuck on there. That's what I did, then I had the wheels sandblasted. I painted them and mounted everything myself. Then a trip back to the tire dealer for balancing.
