The wires for an electric choke need a source of electricity from a source hot only with ignition on and sometimes a ground. I take the hot side from the ignition side of the coil or distributor. You could just install a new cable-get a quality one from NAPA, you don't know where the first one came from-could be from Checker Auto Parts-ugh.
