Most all 318's I ever had from the 70's and 80's I ever had eventually needed a manual choke-a chrysler defect I guess. I've put in alot of cables and had good luck with them, but they do get rust inside the houseing. Pull the cable and graphite or grease it. Otherwise get a new carb with and electric choke which is a nice improvement. Forget the Chrysler heated spring choke.
