There is a power assist steering system available for tractors that sits in the link between steering box and bellcrank. It's an adaptation of an automotive unit from the 50s, not quite the power steering of todays cars but a whole lot better than a sharp stick in the eye. The sensing and power piston are built into a single unit.
There's also air power assist, but the piston is rather large, and EXPENSIVE.
