As to transmission fluid and Acetone, the theory is nice, BUT, the two are not compatable. You get the same result by substituting Mineral Spirits, or even Naptha for the Acetone. Just as mineral spirits are the mechanism of motion for FluidFilm and Super FranzFilm, it also works as a penetrent.
Mineral Spirits and or Naptha evaporates slower as well, and delivers deeper penetration into rust. Rust (iron oxide) is actually self protecting against liquid penetration via creep, especially when the vehicle portion of the cocktail evaporates.
Contrary to Willy & Baaaaabs the Sheep's assertions, Lanolin is cheap as an industrial ingredient rather than Pharmaceutical grade. You can make FluidFilm at home for about 2 bucks a pint.
