no need to crank till finger pops off or use hole over number 6. just spin engine by hand until timing pointer is at zero then

"set engine on TDC with timing mark. spin new pump so the roll pin that holds the gear onto pump is pointing straight up at you. slide pump in and it should be at 7:00 O'clock."
then spin dist housing so number one plug wire is right over the rotor at 7 oclock. I will be either correct or possibly 180 degrees out. if it wont start spin it 180 and drop back in.
