Agree with you Wayne, if the threads are good I re-use them. I've re-used the round ones (if in good condition) on trailers without ever having the axle come loose or fall off, usually with new nuts and lock nuts. I haven't found long nuts on trailer axles here, usually a normal nut and a second one as a lock nut. Any doubt and I chuck them out.
