I have a John Deer mower with a twin cyl. motor , I didn't use it for around 4-5 years with gas in the carb and about 1/2 tank of gas . I went to the local NAPA and asked the Manager if they sold anything that I could just dump into the gas tank and start the motor she told me yes and sold me the product called " Star Tron " enzyme fuel treatment .A 8 ounce bottle treats 128 gal. I also had to replace the battery so after about 4-5 min of cranking the mower started right up , it missed for a few min then gradually started to run smooth . this worked very well so it might help you out some with getting the gunk out of your carb.
