Good morning, everyone! To each and every one of you who read this forum who has served our country in the Military, please accept my sincere and heart-felt thanks for what you have done and the sacrifices you have made on behalf of this great Nation and all of its citizens. Veterans Day always makes me think of my father, who served in the Army as an Infantryman during the Koean War. A more quiet, gentle and peaceful man, I have never known. On only two occasions that I can think of did he allow the warrior in him to come out and it was not pretty. His life was forever transformed by his time in service to our Country and though he Would very rarely talk about his time in combat, he would share stories of his life in the Army with his grace and sense of humor that captivated anyone who was listening. He appreciated any kind of food that came in a can and was a master at mixing things together to make palatable meals out of it. The first fall day with a chill in the air would find him firing up the furnace and making sure it was working as it should. When I would ask him why, his only reply was that "winter is on its way". He loved his family, he loved his Country and he loved his life. I love him and miss him and I think about him each morning when I unfurl the flag for the day and again, when I take it down for the night. I remember him and what countless others just like him have given for us so that we may live the lives we do.

I KNOW that my Dad would love my old truck, and I can just PICTURE him at the wheel of an M37 during his time overseas!
Thanks for taking the time to read this...
