The squeeze end connectors for the tape are step 1 on a trip to hell here in the corrosion capitol of the US. I take the time to remove the coating and solder the connection to the tape. Then recoat the connection with nonacid outgassing RTV and you have something that lasts a few years so far by my tests.

Be very careful with that tape, it's addictive!
There are 12 colt PIR switches and 12 volt dusk to dawn controls, both reasonably priced, and they will hook you.

Walk toward my welding trailer in the dark, and LEDs light up your path before you trip over the *(^$^& tongue. Even worse, the portable telescopic fluorescent work lights have LED 1156 bulbs to deliver light when the generator fails or shore power isn't plugged in.

Even worse, walk toward the door of the house, and 3 feet of LED tape on the bottom of the awning lights up so you can see to put the key in the door, and it works from the house backup battery. Go in the bathroom at night and flip on the LED strip in the toekick area of the vanity so you don't get blinded by the bathroom lights.
Best, according to the little woman, open any of the kitchen cabinets under the counter, and LED tape lights inside the cabinet.
Head for the cellar stairs, LED tape lights the stairs for safety and convenience.

Best part, all the LED tape runs off the same battery that supports the 12 volt backup sump pump (bilge pump) which is charged from the house alarm system. Power goes off I have at least a week of battery powered light. Total investment in 12 volt lighting is under 50 bucks.
