I have the military metal box as opposed to the all cardboard civilian issue. I made a pattern for the bottom back and top out of cardboard. Cut the leather and then got some real thin stainless sheet and transferred the same pattern and cut it out. Did the 2 bends and glued it to the stainless sheet. I then got an old pillow case and glued it over the backside.This was to prevent rattles and wear. I didn't want to just glue it to the box as I wanted it smooth.
