I used to give the bearings a light coat of grease, real light. When filling the axle i would jack up one side to get the oil down the tube , drop that side and then jack up the other side. Maybe 6-8 inches each side. Then park on level and top up the centre section. The hubs act like a sump and will hold enough oil to keep the bearings happy.
