years ago, on my wc12 build I was doing when I first moved to TX, I was seeking a 230 engine for the project, as after a thorough disasembly and bath by the machine shop showed seriuos cracks in the origianl motor, it was deemed UN usable.
I put out feelers, on this forum, for an engine.
I got a call from a fellow in the Houston area. Said he has a fantastic running 230 out of his PW, as he is installing a 251..
and no longer needs it.
Said I could have it.. free.
He was even was coming up to the Plano, TX area in a few weeks and would drop it off.
!!
WOW.. I offered him cash, NO WAY would he take it. I offered gas money for his time and travel, he would NOT take it.. I INSNSISTED he take a few bucks for gas. Honestly I dont remeber if he ever took a dime.
in any case, he was a saviour for that project.
Sadly, I do not remember who did this good deed for me.. it has been like 10 years or more now...
I still think of that good deed. what a great guy..if you are on this forum, THANK YOU again!!!
today, when I have extra parts, I try to find them good homes as a Pay forward kind of thing too...
I guess I have always been that way anyway. So maybe that was my "return payback" for all the parts I gave away. I dont know..but it sure felt good then.
