WKD probably did stand for diesel..

We know that a VC is a 1/2 ton, and that a VD is a 1 ton. I have a VF, which is a 1 1/2 ton, so it's probably the same for the 1940 line up. I know about TC and TD, but I haven't heard of a TF or any others, but I'm guessing that Dodge used this pattern for what turned out to be the 39-47 body style.
T for 1939, V for 1940, and W for 1941. The war effort must have kept them at W till the new style in 48..
