Turns out a standard oil drum bung hole is the same size and thread as a jerry can. I suppose everybody else knows this, but I just discovered it. Makes it a lot easier to pour the last couple gallons out of an oil drum when I can put a jerry can spout on it. I suppose the practical geniuses who invented the jerry can copied the opening from the oil drums that were already in widespread use. That also means all the oil drum accessories like valves and pumps can be used on jerry cans.
