Willie, a few things I'm going to say.
Every truck and tractor I have is equipped with a battery disconnect.
Every Emergency Vehicle I ever saw had a Battery Switch for good reason!
ColeHearse makes the best Battery Switches and they are CHEAP!
Battery switches also prevent tractor fires AND extend battery life by eliminating parasitic load draw. Switches do wonders in that respect on old machines.

The only drawback to a switch is that it won't stop a fire in the wiring when the machine is running. (don't ask)

I also believe strongly in ABC and Purple K extinguishers on every machine, including welders and torch carts! I own 53 extinguishers as of today, including 20# of Halon 4 feet from my computer, that may change by tomorrow. Minimally it will take 7 minutes for the Fire Truck to arrive here.
Like battery switches, extinguishers are damn cheap!

BTW, DelCity just announced they are now carrying high capacity solenoid switches, both constant duty & intermittent duty.
