I am going to see if I can find an old ad I saw. It listed Deluxe Filter Corp and Baldwin in the same ad. It appears that Deluxe merged into, or was bought by Baldwin at some point in time. If so, it should be of no surprise that the Baldwin JC405 filter correctly fits the Deluxe JC canister.
Also, Baldwin is now part of Clarcor, along with Hastings and Purolator among others.
