called up a local engine builder. guys been around a lot of years. has much flathead building and machining experience. comes with great recomendations.

anyway, told him the details..

he is suggesting the same thing.. that is, the problem is the oil control rings, and NOT the guids most likely

now he didnt say having guides worn was a good thing.. just that due to the Flathead valve in block design, worn valve guides are probably not contributing much oil to the problem.. tis more than likey the rings..

heck.. maybe marvelous (or is that Marvels?) mystery oil might help.. what have I got to loose at this point? a little more time and a few bucks?
