I looked at the original factory photo and thought it was a bit too high, then thought I'm never going maximum weight across country, so measured from the bump stop and split the difference at around 5.5" from top of tire to underside of the bed boards. I arranged the cross-members so there's none above the tire for a bit of extra clearance there.
