ammter pegs side to side, truck quits running

This morning I drove my 1960 W300 Poly 318 in to town. I not the ammeter started to peg side to side. The stopped, acted up some more, stopped.

As the stop light in town turned green, I felt the truck die and coasted into Auto Zone. I noticed the electric fuel pump was not turning on, and it is wired to the ignition switch, also does not appear to have power to the Mallory Dual Point Distributor in it.

Ideas?
