Haynes manual has good wiring diagrams for the 77. I have done extensive wiring on mine and found the Haynes drawings to be spot-on. I removed my melted bulk head connectors and hard wired the circuits instead. The quick connects are really only necessary for installation of the wiring harness on the assembly line. After that they are just a maintenance issue. 1-wire alternators are fine but not really necessary as the Dodge unit is a very good one. Fixing the bulk head connector problem will cure most of the problems associated with the alternator. If over charging is a problem, that can usually be fixed by running the voltage sense wire direct from the battery through a relay to the voltage regulator. Have ignition-on circuit power the relay. This eliminates the voltage drop associated with the voltage sense circuit going through the bulk head connector, ignition switch, and back through the bulk head connector.
