Tire Cleaning

I just bought some used 9.00-16 tires. They are somewhat dated but have absolutely no cracks/dry rot. I would like to give them a thorough cleaning. Any suggestions on a good cleaner? Also, once clean I would like to protect. I am thinking of using 303 - any thoughts?
