What's the right gear oil for the 61 D300 tranny and axle? I have a bucket of GL1 that I marked "for old Dodges" based on what my oil distributor looked up, but I don't recall what I was asking about (probably M37 or FFPW). I have a barrel of 85/140 GL4 (?) but I know that's too thick, and I'm pretty sure I have half a bucket of 80/90 GL4, which I'm thinking is probably the right one. I just recall something about the "hypoid" additives being bad on straight cut gears or on brass synchros, or something else.
