Not sure that the government should ban those things, or that they physically cause people to get hurt, but I'm sure they do contribute to a lot of "dude, watch this!" accidents. People see the gopro videos of people skiing off cliffs and skydiving through holes in the rock and then they want to emulate them. It doesn't matter how lucky the person who made the video was, that raises the bar for every young man who wants to look like a hot-shot. Even without a gopro, it's not enough for a person to just hike the PCT or raft the Grand Canyon any more. They have to live-blog it and video it, as if you can't experience anything without imagining the whole world is experiencing it with you.

Drones that automatically follow you while you do your particular thing are a clever bit of engineering, but it must take a colossal ego to imagine anybody else is going to want to watch it. And can you imagine something like a bike race where everyone has their own personal vanity drone?
