Well, the one I bought is a NOS (New Old Stock), never been used, so it should not have any cracks, but with enough off-road usage it may develop a crack. I don't plan to go off roading that much, and I suspect that driving on the road only would probably be just fine. But if I do enough hard off-roading then it sounds like maybe it could be a problem.
